My first encounter with a harp occurred, oddly enough, in my very own backyard! My parents hosted a wedding reception on their property and I was delighted to discover that a harpist had been hired to play. I was nine years old at the time, and I can remember sitting on the grass transfixed all afternoon. My mother, noting my intense interest, suggested I try lessons for the summer. 21 years later I’m still playing and loving it!
I studied with Patricia McNulty Wooster—Principal harpist for the Tacoma Symphony (the harpist from the backyard wedding!) for nine years and participated in the Tacoma Youth Symphony harp ensemble and other performances. During this time I also participated in master classes with Isabelle Perrin, Ray Pool and took additional lessons with celtic harpist Philip Boulding. I later went on to study Harp Performance at Trinity Western University and studied under Heidi Krutzen—principal harpist for the Vancouver Symphony Opera.
Since then I’ve enjoyed playing events throughout the Tacoma/Seattle area. My family and I spent the past 8 years in the DC metro area where I had the privilege of performing at weddings and events at Congressional Country Club, Jefferson Memorial and the very first wedding at the Air Force Memorial. I am delighted to be back in the Northwest serving the greater Seattle area.
In January 2015 I completed my training to become a Certified Music Practitioner. Read more here.
